5 New Dresses To Wear To The Best Bars In Singapore. No Mask Nightlife Is Here!

Nightlife is back in full swing, baby! We can’t lie, we’ve missed the tipsy nights with our girls and regretting the number of drinks we had the next morning. The return of nightlife is definitely one to celebrate but we can’t forget the impact the last couple of years has had on the industry.

When the pandemic first hit us in 2020, nightclubs and bars were forced to close down and those that worked in nightlife became unemployed practically overnight. The last 2 years have been a gruelling time for those that relied on after-hour parties for their bread and butter.

Local musicians were especially vocal about their challenges during the pandemic, helming the #savemusicsg movement which centred around bringing live music back to Singapore’s nightlife. One such musician was Sivanesh Pillai, former DJ at CÉ LA VI, who had a chat with The Straits Times and shared his experience of working odd jobs to keep afloat. When bars and clubs closed down with no chance of reopening in sight, Sivanesh knew he could no longer rely on just his savings and so he took up temporary jobs like managing swab centres and isolation facilities. Despite the challenges, Sivanesh continued to hone his craft by spinning at home. Today, Sivanesh is back to playing gigs and you’ll find him at DJ booths in clubs and bars in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok!

We know clubs have been open since April 2022 but back then, masks were still mandatory on the dance floor. With the recent lifting of mask restrictions, party-goers can now get their boogie on without gasping for air (thank god!).

To celebrate the good news, here’s a lineup of our favourite party dresses to wear to nightlife spots and some of the best bars in Singapore.

LAVO: The Rooftop Party

Enjoy some Italian-American fare at dawn and a swig of a gin and tonic at dusk. On the list of iconic rooftop bars in Singapore (together with CÉ LA VI and Spago) is LAVO. With a swanky lounge layout decked in plush sofa seats, this million-dollar view is arguably one of the best spots that overlook the entire Singapore skyline. This rooftop bar is definitely one to add to your list of date night ideas in Singapore but remember to make reservations a few weeks in advance as slots fill up quick!

Address: 10 Bayfront Ave, Tower 1, Level 57, Singapore 018956

What to wear:
Take advantage of the breezy winds at the top of MBS tower in this flirty MINKPINK Marli Midi Wrap Dress. Pair this frock with strappy heels, a trusty clutch and minimal jewellery for a date-night look.

ATLAS1920s Glamour

You’ve probably heard of “that Gotham building”, which is exactly where the 1920s-inspired Atlas Bar stands. Atlas really does take you into a whole other world that exudes opulence and glamour. You’ll find the lavish bar in Great Gatsby-esque decor with bronze, gold and brown embellishments. The 2020 Top Bar in Asia specialises in gin and their collection cannot be missed with floor-to-ceiling shelves that house more than 1300 types of gins. Atlas Bar Singapore also boasts the world’s largest gin collection with samples dating back to 1910. With a title at the top of the list of best bars in Singapore, you’ll be sure to enjoy world-class cocktails and champagne that celebrate the rich traditions of the 1920s.

What to wear:
Embody the luxe bar in the sophisticated yet sexy MINKPINK Amara Mini Dress. Its high neck front stays classy but its open back slit adds a sprinkle of sexiness. The brown paisley prints fit well with the dark decor of Atlas so add on some gold jewellery and your favourite heels for the cherry on top.

ManhattanGet a Taste of the Upper East Side

Here’s another date night idea. Reminiscent of New York's old-school glamour, Manhattan is a cocktail bar with drinks named after popular Manhattanites like Andy Warhol, Yoko Ono and Vera Wang. With the title of #2 Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2019, Manhattan has a carefully curated cocktail menu with classic go-to's including the New York Sour and the Manhattan. Enjoy an elegant date night with low light ambience and classy music for a taste of glamorous New York.

Address: 1 Cuscaden Rd, Level 2 Regent Singapore, Singapore 249715

What to wear:
New Yorkers are known for their toned-down style with no bright or loud prints so this MINKPINK Tilda Cowl Midi Dress does the trick. Understated yet classy, turn heads in this flowy frock with its cheeky slit and a draped neckline for added sophistication. Add on silver jewellery and a shoulder bag to cop Carrie Bradshaw’s 90s style.

 MARQUEEThe Ultimate Nightlife Theme Park

Singapore’s largest nightclub spanning 3 floors reopened back in July but now that mask restrictions have fully lifted, it’s time to get back on the dance floor to celebrate mask-free! If you haven’t already visited this grandeur nightclub, MARQUEE is an adult theme park that boasts a Ferris wheel and 3-storey high snaking slides that surround the dance floor. We must admit, the best nightclub in Singapore is an extravagant feast for the eyes.

Address: 2 Bayfront Avenue B1-67, Galleria Level, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 018972

What to wear:
If you’re sweating it out on the dance floor, you’ll want to be in something comfy that will get you through the night. The MINKPINK Darling Knit Mini Dress has a breathable fabric with sexy cut-out detailing, perfect for a night out. Put on some baby heels to keep your feet tapping away without the dreaded blisters.

28 Hong Kong StreetA Literal Hidden Gem

This one’s shrouded in secrecy and even opened in 2011 without a launch party or marketing campaigns. Located in an unassuming shophouse, the bar literally has no signages and may take you a little finding but you’ll spot their entrance by the side door under a single lit lamp. Once you enter, its interior directly contrasts its plain entrance doors. 28 Hong Kong Streets is an American-style bar that keeps it mellow and dimly lit for that mysterious mood (very on brand). The space is decked in secluded booths and a cocktail menu with drinks named after rappers. This watering hole promises to keep the spirits up but the lights down low.

Address: 28 Hongkong St, Singapore 059667

What to wear:
For a night out at 28 Hong Kong Street, slip on the MINKPINK Saskia Mini Dress for a casual but ready-for-a-tipple frock. Add on statement earrings, a crossbody and sandals to keep your feet comfy at this casual joint.
