Unforgettable Singapore artworks and gifts we love
While we might be best known for our technicolour collection of fashion and accessories, as a lifestyle store, we love curating gorgeous pieces for the home — and that includes art to adorn our walls and bring an extra pop of colour into our lives. It’s no surprise we like our art to be vibrant and uplifting – that’s our vibe!.
If you’ve come by our Joo Chiat boutique and admired the art on display, get to know some of our fave artists creating spectacular Singapore artworks. We think these special pieces make for beautiful Singapore gifts for dear friends departing, loved ones abroad, or for yourself to celebrate living in this amazing city!
Linda Preece Photography
For iconic Singapore scenes in the most striking colours, we’re obsessed with Linda Preece’s works. Maybe we’re biased because she’s captured the famous row of shophouses on Koon Seng Road in our beloved Joo Chiat (pictured top), but the ultra-vibey colour palettes applied to her photographs of Joo Chiat, Emerald Hill and the city skyline have us hooked. Her artworks start from $365 for a 40x60cm canvas, to $580 for a 80x55cm work.
If you want to inject energy into your home with a hit of local culture and iconic local scenes, check out her ready-to-hang prints on canvas (they also come unframed if you need to transport them), or acrylic block Lumi Tiles as a standing display (ranging from $85 to $295). Pure joy.
Mishell Leong, Dream, limited edition lithograph, $1500 |
Mishell Leong
Mishell Leong is a Malaysian artist who’s lived abroad and long been based in Singapore — and we get an instant hit of happiness from her bold, colourful works. Like us, Mishell has a love affair with botanical scenes and tropical vibes – her works are inspired by scenes of her childhood in Asia and current home. Her sublime artworks serve up some serious colour therapy: think intense pinks and turquoise against banana leaves, birds of paradise and elegant orchids. Swing by to see her limited edition lithographs in store – we think they’re stunners.
Sandra Macheroux’s Shophouse Medley print on canvas, $350 |
Sandra Macheroux Photography
Australian photographer Sandra Macheroux lived in Singapore for many years, capturing the most stunning scenes and skylines and indulging our obsession with colourful shophouse facades. Her collages of her works, stretched on canvas, are a firm favourite at The Wyld Shop (and at home).
Her artworks also adorn gorgeous Singapore gifts from tote bags featuring shophouse facades, board shorts for men and boys, jigsaw puzzles of Singapore scenes and the most beautiful napkins and linen tea towels with patterns created from Peranakan tiles – our go-to housewarming gift. Her paint by numbers kits, featuring scenes from her most iconic shots, were a lockdown lifesaver.
Sandra Macheroux’s Peranakan tile tea towels, $22 |
Psst: Sanda’s gift items are currently on sale and we have some precious limited pieces – if you’re in love with a particular piece snap it up before it’s gone forever. We’re collecting them ourselves.
Want to see more of these beautiful pieces in the flesh? Pop by and visit us at our Joo Chiat boutique – and make sure you wander down to Koon Seng Road to visit the iconic shophouses that inspired some of these works while you’re here!
