Earrings: How To Choose The Best Ones For You

When it comes to jewellery, earrings are arguably the most important to have. They are staples that can easily elevate your look and bring out your best facial features, depending on whether or not you’ve chosen the right ones. In this blog post, we will be guiding you through how you can determine which style of earrings are best for you.

While there isn’t exactly a rulebook to follow or formula to get the perfect match for your earrings, there ARE some general guidelines. However, your earrings, like any other accessories or clothing you wear, should be a reflection of your own Personal Style. Comfort + Confidence = YOU at all times. Clothing and accessories can be used to accentuate, decorate and illuminate our personalities no matter the occasion. But what's special about earrings, however, is that they specifically spruce up your face and hair. This is essentially why your face shape is the first and foremost consideration when choosing earrings.

Never thought about what your face shape is? Not to worry, face shapes are not something we normally think about and it’s hard to determine too as some faces can be a mix of various shapes.

Here's a chart to guide you. If you’re still not sure what your face shape is, you can check out this article by Cosmopolitan that tells you step-by-step.

We decided to be a little adventurous and tried a face shape-detecting app called Face Shape (no, seriously). Watch our video to see our WYLDcrew members, Isabel and Gaya, try out different styles of earrings best suited to their face shapes!

Our take on the app: not sure if it’s glitched but Isabel and Gaya definitely have quite different face shapes.

Oval-shaped faces are said to be the most versatile for earrings, with the most prominent feature being high cheekbones. You can wear almost any shape of earrings but the colour and design should still suit your personality and the rest of our outfit, as demonstrated in the video.

Hoop Earrings

An everyday essential!

Round-shaped faces are generally symmetrical too but not as contoured on the edges. It is recommended to try long and slender statement earrings to help lengthen your face to make it look smaller and narrower!

Statement earrings perfect for round faces!

Square-shaped faces are generally symmetrical like a round face but can be boxy. For this shape, it is recommended to stick to simple hoops or circular stud earrings!

Diamond-shaped faces are quite similar to heart-shaped faces, it’s almost impossible to tell the difference between the two. Most people are quite honestly a mix of both. For this shape, you will generally want to avoid sharp angled earrings and go for round droplet earrings that will complement your small chin!

The rectangular face shape is said to be a hybrid of the oval and square shaped face. Your face is essentially as long as an oval shape but will have an angular, boxy chin. It is recommended to stick to short earrings to complete the middle part of your face since it will be quite narrow!

Lastly, a heart face shape has a wider forehead compared to the chin. Your face would also be softer from top to bottom. For this shape, it is recommended to wear earrings with elongated lines and curves such as teardrop earrings and draw attention to your eyes and cheekbones!

Available in multiple colours. They are perfect for adding a pop of colour to your outfit!

Now that we’ve covered the most essential part when it comes to choosing earrings, the rest of it is really up to your own style and personality. If you’re not sure whether to choose gold or silver, find out what your undertone is. Gold is for warm undertones and silver is for cool undertones! With that, we hope you have fun and more confidence choosing your next pair of earrings!
