After being part of the GITNB X SPARK festival a few weeks ago, the need to save our planet is more crucial than ever. At WYLD, we’ve learnt the importance of being conscious and we would like to share some trendy Australian brands that embody an ethical ethos or practice sustainable manufacturing.

Who says you can’t be clad in a sexy little bikini without giving back to the Earth? Shapes in the Sand is an eco conscious swimwear label that uses regenerated fabrics such as recycled nylon and polyesters to create their gorgeous pieces. They also put together projects to create positive change to the environment and its inhabitants. For example, they have helped fund organized beach clean ups as well as care facilities for Australian native wildlife. With a wide range of colourful prints on their bikinis and one pieces, all products are proudly handmade in Australia.

With their products being manufactured in Indonesia, the materials are naturally farmed and certified cotton, which doesn’t include dangerous chemicals harmful to the environment. Besides manufacturing their products ethically, Vege Threads also donates a percentage of their profits to a Bali-based foundation.

Etiko is known for their support for human and labour rights in India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Besides using raw materials for all their products, Etiko makes an effort to work with factory suppliers who invest in the social and economic developments of farmers and workers. Well I definitely don’t mind splurging on cool footwear if it’s for a good cause!
