It’s been a while since we’ve had a damn good ladies’ night, and we’re ready for the free-flow and feel-good vibes. And frankly, we’re sick of being all dressed up with nowhere to go. We’ve already shared what we’re wearing next on date night, but this time we’re serving up our top five party outfits of the moment now that nightclubs are reopening in Singapore – hooray for the return of live music, dancing and staying out past 10.30!
But, beyond deciding which party dresses and clubbing outfits are just your style, there are a few things we think you should know before hitting the party scene after a two-year hiatus …
Group size limits, capacity limits for event spaces and safe distancing measures have been lifted as of April 26 – woohoo! Clubs and bars no longer need to check your vaccination status; it’s now up to the individual to follow the rules. But, keep in mind that if you want to go clubbing or head back to your fave bars, you’ll still need to wear a mask indoors except when eating or drinking. Dancing with a mask on? It could be worth it.
Can we still stay up that late nowadays? Only one way to find out…
Book yourself a table before you take your new party dress for a spin. While Singapore’s club scene is slowly coming back to life, you could encounter mandatory ART tests, no walk-ins, and many clubs have done away with guest lists too. Things are constantly changing, so always double check what the current entry requirements are with your club of choice.
Now, what to wear?
MINKPINK Elvire mini dress, $155
The back to your fave bar outfit:
We’re right at home at our old regular, and going for a flirty wrap and quirky statement necklace for the occasion.
Where to wear it:
EO is our long-time regular for the strongest gimlets in town, best playlist, and soothing chicken noodle soup as the politest “get out it’s closing time” gesture. Our old trick of booking a table for dinner and staying for the dancing is more relevant than ever – the Ramly Burger is our guilty pleasure here — along with tarot and palm readings in the Psychic Booth.
112 Amoy St, Singapore 069932
MINKPINK Harvey mini dress, $178
The ladies’ night outfit
We’re going ladylike with this embroidered number by MINKPINK – and can’t stop swooning over those scalloped edges!
We’re breaking out the bubbly at one of the best views in town: 57 stories high at Marina Bay Sands, to be precise. This ladies’ night is back on from 5 till 11 at The Sky Lounge with $15+++ on prosecco and house wines — make sure you book a table for this one. And if you’ve still got it in you to keep partying, The Sky Lounge serves lite bites until late and stays open all the way until 3am.
The cool club outfit:
This chic midi ticks all the boxes for an elegant club outfit: we’re into the rich chocolate hue and glam cut-outs.
Where to wear it:
We’re suckers for the mini bowling alley, karaoke room and beautifully wallpapered ladies’ rooms for taking shameless selfies at Avenue. Last time we were here we sang along to Whitney’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody with a room full of strangers – let’s hope that vibe is back. Entry for re-opening weekend from 29 April is by VIP table reservation only, and you’ll need a negative result from a supervised ART test. There’s a testing facility at Sands Expo & Convention Centre to sort you out, but check the FAQ first.
2 Bayfront Avenue, Basement 3, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands entrance via level 1, behind Sands Theatre Bus Stop, 018972
MINKPINK Meda embroidered blue mini dress, $155
The dance all night outfit:
You’ll catch us on the dance floor in this cute mini, most likely paired with kicks — because who wants to dance all night in heels nowadays? Fun earrings are absolutely mandatory.
Where to wear it:
You haven’t partied in Singapore if you haven’t partied at Zouk – this clubbing institution has been around for decades and still has it. Confession: you’re most likely to find us at Zouk on Mambo Jambo ‘80s nights, but the club’s Capital space, with its more loungey vibe, is a strong contender. Zouk’s re-opening weekend caught party-goers off guard with a no walk-ins policy, so make sure you reserve a table or secure tickets before heading out.
3C River Valley Road, Clarke Quay, #01-05 to #02-06, The Cannery, 179022
HÁI Hollywood plunge swimsuit in cobalt blue, $139,
and Staple the Label Studio cupro pants, $149
The pool party outfit:
Yes, swish swimwear constitutes a cute summer party outfit – pair your glam one-piece with swishy palazzo pants or a floaty cover-up.
Where to wear it:
Tanjong Beach Club
We’re going for a different kind of clubbing experience here – hell yes to pool parties, cocktails on the sand and the return of live DJs! TBC is an oldie but a goodie that never goes out of style. Our fave thing about this place? Fur babies are welcome – and human kids too, if you’re going for daytime vibes. Pro tip: book a daybed, it’s the only way to go now.
120 Tanjong Beach Walk, 098942
